How to turn my Ogre Profile into one i can share.

Postby Gorrok » 29 Apr 2014, 06:59

Hi

I was curious if there was a quick way to allow me to share my profile without sharing my private information.
In my profile i obviously have aliases set and possible other config that might contain my character names.
Information that i do not wish to share.

What is the quickest way for me to get "safe" profile generated ?

As for the AA's i just open the AA window in game, and in there select Save and choose a name.
Then the file appears in the EQ2 directory from what i know.

The reason i ask is that there are no doubt some SERIOUS profiles out there and people might be more willing to share profiles if it was a easy simple and safe task. (Might be an idea for an export profile button in Ogre or BJCasey?)

This export feature changes everything on aliases to "EditMe".

For example if I had an entry on the alias tab with:
*Tank = Kannkor

It would become:
*Tank = EditMe

It also does NOT edit out any other tab/information anywhere.

So if you had "Kannkor" listed in the assist tab, it will STILL be there!

I highly recommend after you export it, you edit the xml file it creates, and look line by line to double check. I'm VERY diligent about using aliases only, and I still double check every single profile of mine I share.

Great stuff - thanks for the quick reply.
I should have known Kannkor would have engineered this already :)

Hope this helps people post profiles, and will try and post one of my profile soon.
